The Midterm Elections: Live Report from TJC and Voting Rights Alliance National Command Center Hosted by Hip Hop Caucus!
Join radio show host Barbara Arnwine, founder and president of the Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC),on November 6th, 2018, from 12:00–1:00 PM EST, for a Special Live Broadcast from the National Voting Rights Command Center of the Transformative Justice Coalition and the Voting Rights Alliance which is being hosted by the Hip Hop Caucus. This National Command Center will focus on protecting the rights of voters in every state with a special focus on our special relationships with voting rights organizations and activists in 15 states including Alabama, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
The Command Center will also monitor social media for voter’s complaints and distress postings about problems voting. We will directly interact with voters and contact election officials on their behalf to resolve problems. Law student volunteers from Howard University Law School will help to staff the Command Center.
Our guests during the show are Attorney Michael Hersh, Command Center Coordinator, Radio Host and leader of People Demanding Action; Attorney Joel R. Segal, Executive Director, North Carolina Climate Justice Solutions Coalition; Sharon J. Hill of the Georgia People’s Agenda; Mustafa Santiago Ali, Senior Vice President the Hip Hop Caucus; and Mark Antoniewicz, Communications Director of the Hip Hop Caucus; Howard University law students; and, many other prominent leaders.
During the show, we will examine the following: What was the turnout during Election Day morning?; Who seems to be voting?; What are the problems voters are encountering at the polls?; Which states are doing the best?; Which states are doing the worst?; Why have Howard University law students volunteered at Election Protection and our Command Center?; How are voters being helped?; Has racism played a role during the elections?; What are the issues driving voters?; How are the voting machines faring?; What do voters need to know?; How can voters best protect their votes?; and What can our listeners do to make a difference? These and many more issues will be examined during the show.
